Synopsis
"Hathyar” addresses to the problems of todays parents who express their love for their children through mechanized toys like, pistols, gun, rifles and all symbols of violence and destruction. Little Avi was given one such toy by his uncle. None of them knowing that it was an omen for things to come.
Avi’s sojourn started when his peace loving father was dubbed as a coward and had to leave his ancestral village where family fueds and rivalries made it though for survival.
Thakur Sahib came to the city along with his wife and son Avi, in a quiet civilized society, but only to find that in the city it was the survival of the meanest.
Avi graduated in the city life with a starving widowed mother staring him in the eyes. It was enough to make him take the path of least resistance – the crime alley.
His ‘Chawl’ neighbour ‘Pakia’ introduced him to the pick pocket club, he himself found bigger fields and greener pastures, till one day he committed the unforgivable crime of killing a Police Officer.
That brought him to a bigger league where crime lords like Khushal Khan and Rajananna played the game.
Khushal Khan, once a guard at a city Bank was sucked in by the crime world only to become its ruler.
But he had to pay a fabulous price for it – alienation of the affections of Sammi, his younger brother – the person he loved the most.
Sammi was a sweet amiable Pathan with a song in his heart and soulful music in his “Rabab” – the Musical instrument that he played for a living.
Sammi’s beautiful wife, Jenny, an aspiring play back singer looked to Avi for help when she found that neither her husband nor the mighty Khushal Khan would help her aspirations. Avi would help her but would want unmentionable favours in return.
Would Sammi’s marital bliss be shattered? Not if Khushal Khan could help it. He would come down like a scourge on anyone trying to wreck his brother’s happiness.
Avi would soon learn the rules of the game by being kicked around by Khan to Anna.
Avi couldn't take it for long, he kidnaps Sammi’s child and puts a halt to the game but only to raise the stakes to greater heights.
Would the child be allowed to become a pawn in the fatal game of crime's chess? In case of a killing, who is guilty, the weapon or the hand that wields the weapon?
If Hathyar poses these questions it abounds its answers too...
