Profile:
Firoz A. Nadiadwala was born in Bombay, India to Abdulgafar Nadiadwala and Munira Nadiadwala. Grandson to Abdul Karim Nadiadwala. He is Commerce Graduate, with law degree and has got his business management degree with honor/distinction. As teenager, under his father’s production AG Film’s, he was introduced to films produced on modest as well as big budget Indian movies. He launched one more division of Movie production under the company name “Base Industries Group” (BIG). These movies propelled his future career in cinema. Films became an extension of his personality - full of style, panache and wit. The process of film production and business were a reflection of his eye for detail, meticulous planning and systematic execution. From the fringes, the Industry took notice. The difference was apparent. The effect was seen in the way Firoz A. Nadiadwala reflected the science and art of filmmaking in his very own films. They were the first company in the country to introduce Dolby Digital Surround Sound through the movie RamShashtra in 1993. George Lucas was the first to introduce Dolby in the United States through Star Wars. Firoz’s movies are mostly big budget with super star cast, pure action, stunts, good music and clean family entertainer’s. He released Kartoos in 1997, he was first Indian film producer to have three music directors - Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bally Sagoo and Anu Malik. In his Movie Kartoos the immortal rendition of Teri Yaad by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, was the first song in Indian Film history to be digitally filmed on blue matte. John McTiernan, the Director of Die Hard, selected clips of song Teri Yaad (means-Your Memories) and expressed a desire for the same to be included in his action movie “Roller Ball”.
Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has worked together with several Western artists, including the rock musician Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and the actor Tim Robbins (for the Soundtracks to Dead Man Walking), Michael Brook, Massive Attack (Mustt Mustt, 1991), and Peter Gabriel ( the soundtracks for The Last Temptation of Christ and Long Walk Home) and extended so the reputation of the Qawwali music in North America and Europe.Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music is the Qawwali, a Sufi ecstatic – Gesang assign.


Firoz A. Nadiadwala came up with classic comedies like Hera Pheri. His comedies rely heavily on inventive and non-stop one-liners. Awara Pagal Deewana (2002) featured India’s first wire and cable stunt sequences in the film. A world-renowned Chinese team credited with works such as The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Charlie’s Angels choreographed the sequence. He is a producer who believes in good and entertaining quality cinema that entertains and enhances quality of narration. Aan – Men at work (2004) was the first full-length Indian film to be digitally graded. Artistes dream of being a part of BIG’s ventures. Film Deewane Hue Paagal was released in 2005. The cream of creative talent in the diverse areas of films consider BIG as a breeding ground for innovative and quality work.
Their Comedy Movie” Hera Pheri” (meaning- Wheeling Dealing) was launched in Cinemas in the year 2000. It was a huge success at the box office and is considered a cult comedy classic. Thereafter a sequel to “Hera Pheri” was planned in 2005 and was called “Phir Hera Pheri” (meaning-Wheeling Dealing Revisited). Phir Hera Pheri (2006) is the first Indian movie sequel to be announced with the same star cast and characters. The Movie “Phir Hera Pheri” was released in Cinemas on 9th June 2006 and the Screenplay of “Phir Hera Pheri” was selected in October 2006 by the Library of the Oscars Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences for their permanent script collection at the Margaret Herrick Library.
The Film “Phir Hera Pheri” figured at number eight in the UK box office charts in its opening week with collections of 125,366 UK pounds (Rs 87 lakh) from just 36 cinema screens, ahead of the Hollywood film 'Mission Impossible III'. What is more, the film“Phir Hera Pheri”, which opened to a stupendous response all over India following its release on June 9, 2006 had the second highest per screen average of 3,482 UK pounds (Rs 2.5 lakh) in the UK among the top ten, ahead of films like 'X-Men: The Last Stand', 'The Da Vinci Code', 'Poseidon', 'RV' and 'Mission: Impossible III'.
The Academy Library with their letter dated 23rd August 2007, has also selected the Screenplay of new Action Comedy Movie “Fool N Final” for their Library. This Movie was released in cinemas on 1st June 2007.This honor makes BIG the only Movie Production Company in India to have two of their back to back Movie’s selected by the Academy Library. In Fool N Final (2007) for the first time ever, renowned former World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion Mike Tyson consented to be a part of a music video for the movie Fool N Final (2007). As the saying, “miles to go...” Firoz A. Nadiadwala’s, determination to realize goals continues, with not steps, but BIG leaps. Beside planning and producing mainstream movie’s in India and Hollywood, Firoz A. Nadiawala is busy planning three of his most ambitious project’s: -

1. “1857 – The MUTINY” - Making an Epic film on the first Indian Mutiny of 1857. The Government of India has honored Firoz by selecting his company to Co-Produce with the Indian Government, the Epic movie “1857 - The Mutiny” whose 150th anniversary has been commemorated in the year 2007. The Movie subject is based on Actual Facts & Historical Events. 1857 –THE MUTINY is a Patriotic and Dramatic Action Drama to be produced on a Lavish Budget. The roles will be enacted by some of the biggest names of the Indian Movie Industry. Few Hollywood names will also be finalized to play significant parts. Also, some of the best technicians in the world will be a part of the formidable team. Firoz has signed a National Award Winner Director to direct the ambitious project 1857- THE MUTINY. When asked what inspired him to make a historical film, Nadiadwala replies, “My father, A. A. Nadiadwala, wanted to make a film on the 1857 Indian Mutiny since 1969. However, something or the other seemed to have taken more time than required and it got delayed. I am glad to get this opportunity to fulfill his dream.”

2. INDIRA”- A movie on the life of “Indira Gandhi” is being planned for International Audience. An Acclaimed Director from Hollywood has been approached to direct this Movie.

3. “Mahabharata” - A movie on “Mahabharata” which is an Indian Mythological Costume Drama Fable. “Mahabharata” has all the ingredients of a blockbuster. The story of “Mahabharata” has emotions, relationship, romance, betrayal, humor, treachery, sorcery, spiritualism, huge Battle sequences, palatial sets etc. Mahabharata also has the Presence of Lord Krishna who sides with the good men in the battle and preaches that ultimate Victory belongs to the virtuous and brave and that goodness will always triumph over evil. “Mahabharata” has limitless potential for Special Effects and Drama. It will be a huge attraction for families worldwide. “Mahabharata” is being planned for production under the creative and technical care and supervision of the best talent’s in the Movie Industry. The story of “Mahabharata” provides the potential for the movie to be made as India’s answer towards a combination of “Lord of the Rings”, “Gladiator” and “300”.
Firoz A. Nadiadwala has signed ace directors for his various 10 new movie projects in India, which includes sequels too. These ten movies will be presented by A.A. Nadiadwala and are being produced by Base Industries Group, which is a division of Nadiadwala Entertainment and Technology. (NET).
Anees Bazmee will direct the third movie of the super hit entertainer “Hera Pheri” series titled “Hera Pheri - Part 4”. National Award winning director Sai Paranjpe, who had earlier directed acclaimed movies like Chashme Buddoor, Katha and Sparsh, will write and direct a romantic comedy titled Khoon Toh Hona Hi Tha. Kundan Shah will write and direct the sequel to the successful comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Prakash Jha, Aziz Mirza, Rumi Jaffrey and Ahmed Khan are the other directors signed by Firoz A. Nadiadwala.
His latest movie ‘Welcome’ starring Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, Mallika Sherawat has been released worldwide on 21st December 2007.
It is India’s biggest box office grosser ever in the Indian Romantic Comedy Genre. First 3 weeks gross Box Office collections have crossed USD 30million.

Its Firoz’s vision to become a complete vertically integrated Entertainment Company, specializing in all components that complete the film industry’s supply chain. In a 360-degree swoop, NET is in process of starting 3 Television channels that are Social, Informative & Creative.Net is also developing Entertainment zones in atleast 32 cities in India. Multiplex Cinemas and other novel attraction’s related to Entertainment, Leisure, Hospitality and Retail will be a part of the Entertainment Center’s which is being developed in 6 to 16 Acres property in every proposed city in India. This makes NET one of the largest Multiplex screen owner’s in India. Firoz is positioned to produce movies that are entertaining, offer studios that are world class, set up post-production facilities with cutting edge technology, develop Multiplexes that delight cine-goers, build Entertainment Center’s which will be an unforgettable experience.
BIG has begun to acquire and develop 2 Film Studio’s in Bombay and Jaipur with 45 to 50 Acres in each city. The studio will also offer an institute for Theatre, Film and Television. A fully integrated Post Production facility will also be available.

United Nations Felicitation
Mr Firoz A. Nadiadwala was honored in Vienna on 13th and 14th February 2008 at the United Nations Convention on ‘Human Trafficking’. The Company’s movie “Welcome” was released on 21st December 2007 and it carried the United Nations film “One Life One price” on Human Trafficking. This film was shown with “ Welcome” in 1250 Cinemas Worldwide and the film “ One Life One Price” was also included in the DVD version of “Welcome” Thus an awareness of the existences & evils of Human Trafficking was created in about 1 billion people Worldwide through the movie “Welcome”
