Synopsis
Raja Vichitra Singh was a man with a heart of gold. “Raghupati Bhavan” was a symbol of his ancestor’s prestige and glory in which he stayed with his wife, children and his adopted sister Gori.

He used to donate generously to the cause of needy and the poor.

Gori’s marriage was fixed with Thakur Gajendra Singh’s son, Raja Saheb but could not arrange two lakh rupees for dowry according to his promises.

Gajendra Singh was awaiting to settle their old score, he humiliated Raja Saheb in front of the whole community and departed without the bride. Hence Raja Saheb was compelled to mortgage “Raghupati Bhavan” for the dowry, to have his sister settled in her in-law's house. Raja Saheb’s wife could’nt bear this stroke of humiliation and died.

The sister, due to whom Raja Saheb met with this fare, did not participate even in the last rituals of his wife.

To get his lost prestige and glory back, he had to toil hard like a labourer in the city. He had to undergo all sorts of tortures. Soon his children grew old and even they all were dedicated to the same cause. They started saving bit by bit to get their beloved “Raghupati Bhavan” back.

In due course of time pressure from the money-lender started mounting, Raja Saheb was still short of the required cash Gajendra Singh’s henchmen, with a promise to get the required money, managed to hoodwink Raja Saheb and relieved him of the original amount as well. Both the sons got angry at their father and left him. At last the day arrived when the palace was to be auctioned.
